It’s Valentine’s Day weekend! Makes me think of three things: chocolate, romance, and champagne. This morning was the farthest thing from that as we scrambled to get our kids to three different locations at crazy hours between 5:45am and 6:30am. I had a super glam moment kneeling on the floor in my robe shoving tiny chocolates and light-up wands into 22 little decorated paper baggies with my super crafty Martha-type ballerina. She just can’t have “regular” cards and candies, haha. Kids were running around grabbing breakfast and packed lunches, the chicken was fussing at the door demanding her hot oatmeal (ridiculous, I know), and Peter was giving the the final call for everyone to load up in the car. The pre-sunrise scenes in our house are probably reality show worthy.
I digress. Back to our topic. Fun heels are a must for Valentine weekend, and I think black is always a classic choice. Found two recently that caught my eye. Starting with these strappy and affordable little numbers. Hot. Yet comfortable. The best of both worlds.
Here they are in action on their instagram page. Love! Just edgy enough without looking like Jamie Lee Curtis’s character in the movie Trading Places.
And I pinned these pom pom tassel pumps a few weeks ago…so fun, right? Love the sass factor. They’re a little more price-wise than the ones above, but I think worth it from what I know about this line.
And for the kiddos….
I saw this super simple and adorable Valentine craft below, shot by my friend Nicole Hill Garulat and had to share. Sidenote: Nicole has a great series of online tutorials for styling, design, photoshop, illustrator and more over here. I’m planning to do this little craft with my kiddos by the fire over a box of chocolates over the weekend. Both of my girls are interested in sewing, actually my 11 year old already sews her pointe shoes, so this will be a good start.
What kind of chocolates are you hoping for on Valentine’s Day? I’m crossing my fingers for a variety box of gourmet chocolates – my weakness are the ones filled with caramel.
Cheers to the weekend!
